Monthly Recap: October 2022

For millions of people around the world, October marks daylight savings time, the Diwali Festival of Lights, and pumpkin-filled Halloween festivities. But here at token.com HQ, the last month hasn’t just been about these global events—we’ve also been busy with reunions and rapid expansion. We headed out to a 1,000-year-old castle in Turin for our latest full team retreat this month, an essential chance to catch up as a team and reflect on where we stand with the new product today. As we’ve been working non-stop since token.com went live over the summer, there was a lot to talk about, details of which we’ve compiled for our latest Monthly Recap post. Read on to learn more.

Preparing for the tokenized future

Our ultimate vision for token.com is to help regular people discover and learn about tokens according to their interests. We believe that the full scale of tokenization is still some way off, but there’s nonetheless an abundance of innovative projects to explore in the meantime.

With this in mind, our aim is to make tokens more accessible through the app as the token economy expands. We think we’re doing a pretty good job of this so far, especially after learning that our monthly active users soared by 350% in October. Our onboarding process is also getting faster—the average customer now takes under two minutes to register and start collecting tokens today.

What’s more, this month we moved closer to supporting the riches of the token economy by integrating with Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange. As a result, token.com customers can now access over 60 new tokens, including promising risers like NEAR, Optimism, and GMX. We plan to integrate more exchanges and add more tokens as they emerge in the future, giving our customers an easy way to invest in the hottest new projects in the ecosystem.

But token.com goes beyond listing tokens alone. As we want to help our community navigate the space and overcome any confusion associated with investing in tokens, we curate Collections of tokens according to key themes. We launched with just 10 Collections covering essential areas of the token universe, and current community favourites include The Crypto Giants and NFT Staples. But this month we’ve expanded our product suite with seven new curated Collections. Head to the token.com app now to find our new Collections dedicated to new token adopters (The Crypto Starter Pack), token thought leaders (Crypto’s Brightest Minds), Ethereum’s beloved Devcon conference (Devcon VI Collection), and much more.

The crypto researchers and token experts on our team will focus on adding and curating new Collections, and in the future we’ll evolve the product to serve customers with suggestions of ways to invest according to their lifestyle and interests. That’s the tokenized future the world is heading towards, and we’re preparing for it today.

On the road

We’ve also been on the road over the past few weeks, starting out in the Bay Area for Circle’s Converge22 event and winding up in our Turin get-together via Devcon Bogotá.

Attending two of the year’s most anticipated conferences gave us an opportunity to discuss our vision for token.com with key figureheads across the industry, and while there were big differences between the venture-focused San Francisco event and Ethereum’s Mecca gathering, there were valuable insights to get from both. You can read more about our learnings from Converge and Devcon here and here, but the key takeaway is that there are thousands of people building to make tokenization a reality today, and many of them seem to think that token.com could play an important role in its future.

After the two conferences, we held our full team gathering at the stunning Workation Village in Turin, where we spent four days catching up, sharing our recent progress, and brainstorming new ideas over pasta and red wine. Our team has grown fast over the past year, so for many newer recruits, it was a chance to meet everyone face to face for the first time.

The highlight of the four-day retreat was our workshop on how to evolve token.com to help customers discover tokens in a simple way, and we’ll be iterating the standout contributions as we ship new features over the next year.

Focusing on growth

As token.com is already live in the Brazilian market, we’re currently running a number of marketing campaigns focused on acquiring new customers.

Our Brazil team is taking the lead on advertising the product within the Latin American region, and our aim is to grow our user base steadily before expanding to other parts of the world.

Of course, when we are ready to roll out token.com across the rest of the world, we’ll be making a big splash with a few changes in store—watch this space for more news dropping soon.

Welcoming new Creators and co-workers

Although we’ve made huge progress over the past few weeks, there are no plans to slow down on our current pace anytime soon. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be making tweaks and improvements, shipping new features and adding new Collections covering buzzy areas of the ecosystem we’re following closely. A big part of our forthcoming developments will be the introduction of Creator profiles. As we expand our offering, we’ll be enlisting the help of influential Creators in the token ecosystem to act as token.com ambassadors with their own curated Collections. Look out for our first Creator Collections dropping in the coming weeks.

Beyond the product itself, we’re also actively hiring for world-class talent across several departments—we’ll be looking to fill roles with candidates who share our vision for the limitless possibilities of the tokenized future ahead of us.
